2010 Ford Taurus SHO

2010taurusshoIf someone had told you that there is a new car coming out with a twin turbo V6 engine producing 365 horsepower, all-wheel drive, paddle shifters, and 20″ wheels, you would assume it’d be a hot new sports car.

What if they said it’s got four doors? You’d be correct in thinking that the car would come from Germany or Japan. That’s what Ford said, too.

Enter the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. They have revived the SHO name from the late 80′s-early 90′s, cult-classic Taurus SHO. The boys in Dearborn, Michigan might be hitting a homerun here, hopefully moving more units than the slow selling G8 from Pontiac.

The new Taurus SHO actually looks clean and athletic, whereas the G8 looks cheap and ‘Pontiac tacky’. Ford also uses the environmentally responsible EcoBoost 3.5 liter engine to get 365 ponies, the G8 uses the huge 6.2 liter V8 Chevrolet LS3 engine from the Corvette. It also boasts a pretty comprehensive and impressive standard and optional equipment listing such as hard drive based nav system, Microsoft Sync, backup camera, blind spot detection, intelligent cruise with collision detection, cross traffic detection, and a Sony sound system.

One flaw might be the price, we must admit that it is a little high. It starts at $37,995 including destination charge, but that is without any options. You can get the Infiniti G37x loaded up for a little past $40k, and you get a premium marque and service that go with it. Spending $40k+ at a Ford dealership might not be a pleasant experience.

Either way, the KarFarm team is salivating to test this car and give you an honest review. It is the first domestic sedan that actually get us excited and squeal like school girls. Look for the new Taurus SHO in late summer of this year!
