I guess in our business, sometimes trying to be the first ones to break a story, you tend to jump the gun a little too early. A couple of ‘obssessed’ car blogs have reported that Toyota will not be offering the 2012 Toyota Rav4 EV (electric vehicle) in the US maket for general consumption.
Yesterday, we get a note from Toyota’s PR department that, in fact, the Rav4 EV will be offered to the general American public. However, the Scion iQ EV will be only for fleet and car sharing programs, such as ZipCar.
Toyota aims to become the very first car maker to offer two EVs in their lineup, the Rav4 EV and the Scion iQ EV. Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Tesla currently offer only one model at least until late 2012.
