This Jaguar XK140 is a restored fixed-head coupe that was photographed at the 2011 Palo Alto Concours d’Elegance at Stanford University in Palo Alto.
The model is an SE because its engine is equipped with the upgraded C-type (sports-racing) cylinder head, which increases the car’s horsepower.
The Jaguar features a 3.4-liter DOHC in-line (Hemi) six XK engine which can be bumped up to 210 hp at 5750 rpm.
“The XK140 appeared from 1954 through 1957,” according to the owners, “and was an evolution of the 1949 revolutionary XK120.
This Jaguar XK140 also sports wire wheels, dual exhaust, Lucas fog lamps and an overdrive that allows it to reach speeds of 129 mph. “It featured several improvements, such as rack-and-pinion steering and Girling telescopic rear dampers. Other changes included much heavier bumpers and a revised roof line.”
This car was purchased in 1982 by a California couple, who restored it.
Of all the Jaguars at the concours, this one attracted a lot of attention.
